Veterans Day Poster Contest

The 2021 Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade is just around the corner, and with over 150 submissions from middle school students throughout Las Cruces Public Schools for the Veterans Day Parade Poster Contest, five finalists were invited to attend a Las Cruces City Council meeting held on Tuesday, October 18.

The theme for this year was set to set to honor Korean War Veterans.

The five finalists in alphabetical order were:

Faith Contreras, Mesa Middle School

Isabel Della-Ratta, White Sands Middle School

Sadie Reynolds, Camino Middle School

Isbel Sanchez, Vista Middle School

Lexie Sanchez, Vista Middle School

The five finalists were presented with a plaque for their dedication and creatively from Mayor Ken Miyagishima, Bill Hawkins the committee chair spokesperson and Dolores Archuleta, Parade Coordinator. Las Cruces Public Schools Superintendent Ralph Ramos was present during the meeting to congratulate the students on their artwork.

Isabel Della-Ratta, an eighth grader at White Sands Middle School, was the winner of the City of Las Cruces 2021 Veterans Parade Poster Contest.

The community is invited to attend the 2021 Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade to honor veterans and the sacrifices they made defending our freedom. The parade will take place on Saturday, November 6, at 11:00 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Las Cruces. The opening ceremony will take place in front of the reviewing stand on the corner of Main Street and Las Cruces Avenue will start at 10:30 a.m.

The parade will happen at the corner of Main Street and Lohman Avenue, and will travel north on Main Street to the turn-about, and continue south on Water Street back to the staging area.

The Mayfield High School Air Force JROTC, the Mayfield High School Band and the Mayfield High School wrestling team will be participating in the parade.
